Insulation and Vinyl Siding

PROJECT TYPE: Interior Design, Industrial

CONTRACTOR: E&M Contractors

Insulation and Vinyl Siding

An entire house gets insulation and new vinyl siding as well as pine t&g soffets.

From Exposed Framing to a Fully Insulated, Re-Sided Home

This project involved a full exterior overhaul of the home. With the old siding removed, the wall sheathing and framing were exposed, giving our team access to properly insulate the house before installing new vinyl siding and finishing the roofline with pine tongue-and-groove soffits.

What we delivered:

  • Full Siding Removal: Stripped the old siding down to the sheathing and framing to prepare the house for insulation.
  • Whole-House Insulation: Insulated the exterior walls before closing the house back up with new siding.
  • New Vinyl Siding Installation: Installed new vinyl siding across the entire home.
  • Pine T&G Soffits: Finished the roofline with pine tongue-and-groove soffits.

Siding & Insulation Process

Re-siding a full house is a multi-stage job, and getting the sequencing right is what determines how the house performs afterward — not just how it looks.

  • Preparation: Removed existing siding and inspected the framing and sheathing underneath.
  • Insulation: Added insulation across the exterior walls to improve the home’s energy efficiency.
  • House Wrap: Applied weather-resistant house wrap over the insulation as a moisture barrier ahead of siding installation.
  • Finishing: Installed new vinyl siding and pine T&G soffits for a complete, weathertight exterior.

Frequently Asked Questions about Insulation and Vinyl Siding

Why insulate a house at the same time as re-siding it?

Removing the old siding exposes the wall framing, which is the easiest and most cost-effective time to add or upgrade insulation. Doing both together avoids opening the walls again later.

What are the benefits of new vinyl siding?

Vinyl siding is durable, low-maintenance, and helps protect the home’s structure from moisture and weather. It’s a common choice for full exterior re-sides because it holds up well over time with little upkeep.

What is a pine T&G soffit, and why use it?

A pine tongue-and-groove (T&G) soffit is a soffit made from interlocking pine boards, installed under the roofline. It gives the roof edge a finished, natural wood look while still sealing off the underside of the eaves.

Does new siding and insulation improve energy efficiency?

Adding insulation to the exterior walls during a re-side, combined with a house wrap moisture barrier, can improve a home’s energy efficiency by reducing air and heat transfer through the walls.

How long does a full house siding and insulation project take?

Timelines vary by house size and scope, but a full exterior overhaul like this involves several stages siding removal, insulation, house wrap, and final siding and soffit installation completed in sequence.
